Teambuilding Programs
Synergy Through Samba
One World Music’s flagship program has been honed to perfection on four continents among a wide range of clients over the past 20 years. Exploring the rhythms of Brazilian Carnival, anywhere from 20 to 400 participants learn to play percussion instruments and synchronize their playing as a group. Facilitators lead participants through carefully framed exercises that draw solid connections between music and business — exploring leadership concepts, developing collaborative skills, and having fun in the process.
Unity, high energy, celebration, collective intelligence, breakthough learning and transformation are the hallmarks of Synergy Through Samba. The program includes opening and closing performances, large group and sectional music making, discussions in dyads and small groups, and large-group sharing of collective learnings and insights. With its emphasis on team or sectional contributions to system-wide effectiveness, Synergy Through Samba is ideal for departments, organizations, communities, franchisee environments, conferences, global forums, integration of siloed or matrixed organizations, and audiences composed of diverse stakeholders.

Team Jazz
Team Jazz helped us set the right tone and map out the challenges ahead as well as the leadership abilities we could all bring into play. The skillfully made linkages between what we did musically and how we can best work together have proven invaluable over the past nine months.
Rod Jackson, Vice President, Global Shared Services, Cisco Systems
One World Music was knowledgeable and adept at drawing parallels between music and our work. The lessons in how a group dynamic supports individual efforts resonated as our class progressed. I would recommend the experience to any creative group planning to work together for a long time.
Joe Ranff, Former head of Story, Pixar Animation Studios
The ultimate experience in leadership, teamwork, and organizational design, Team Jazz takes groups on a musical journey to the “high-performance zone.” In the process of learning to play simple percussion instruments — and performing as an ensemble — participants, explore the relationship between personal responsibility and team synergy, and realign around what inspires them to work together.
Typical framing occurs around four themes: 1) recognizing, valuing, and synchronizing strengths; 2) understating and transforming complexity and conflict; 3) giving voice to individual and collective aspirations; and 4) building a common vision and shared commitment to excellence.

Working in Concert
We chose One World Music’s Working in Concert program to demonstrate how teamwork can create a culture that is resilient to change – one that can rise to challenges and turn them into opportunities. Not only did our 225 participants enjoy the program — they also left with new insights, and commitments to enacting them in the workplace.
Earla Clark, Manager, McKesson
Infinitely scalable — for groups from 30 to 5,000+ — Working in Concert brings relevant workplace lessons to life using music as a metaphor for team effectiveness and organizational excellence. Participants use simple instruments — egg-shaped shakers and musical tubes — to make music together while exploring lessons in creating a cohesive, unified sound.
Activities also include One World Music’s famous rock-passing game — an unforgettable lesson in how group performance breaks down in the absence of collaboration — and, time permitting, group musical compositions and a performance by One World Music’s master musicians. Select this program if you have a short amount of time in your program and want a high-impact experience.
