April 4, 1996 Gary Muszynski Re: Our experience with Synergy Through Samba Dear Gary: While reviewing the events surrounding our recent planning session in Chicago, the senior executives in our firm had many comments to make regarding your production. I thought you would like some feedback on this matter. You may recall that our organization recently completed a merger, and was dealing with an array of integration challenges over the past several months. Most of the demands associated with the merger were expected, but a few were not. Perhaps the most surprising issue that we confronted was the pace at which the employees of the combined firm became comfortable with one another. This took longer than expected, resulting in our desire to find a way to stimulate more interaction on a spontaneous and productive level. We asked you and your colleagues to conduct Samba primarily to help with this as well as other merger related activities. Overall, the program was very successful at generating a level of interaction among our people that transcended any that had occurred prior to that time, and clearly set the stage for improved communications thereafter. It was the first time we realized we could accomplish a great deal more as an integrated team of over 200 individuals, while having fun with one another. As I watch our people work with one another today, it's clear your program put us on the right track and provided an energizing experience that we could build on. I trust your organization is continuing to prosper with your unique program.
