Dear Gary:
"How
did we get 380 people of diverse backgrounds, geographies and organizations
to work together so well that all divisions and barriers to cooperation
were totally swept away? How did we create that incredible sound? . .
. The experience One World Music led us through was unique and has contributed
significantly to helping us create the culture we require for business
success in the twenty-first century."
. . .Your ability during the experience
(and afterwards during debrief) to draw linkages between the way we're
performing and the way the business needs us to perform in the marketplace,
really helped us to focus on areas where we need to duplicate the level
of cooperation and teamwork we demonstrated and what gaps exist between
where we are, where we now know without a doubt, we can perform. What
a difference it makes to have a reference experience that unites us and
which, not it is part of our Regional legacy, we all can recall as an
ideal future state. It's really powerful.
I'll never
forget the looks on peoples' faces as we reached Samba Heaven and the
overwhelming reaction of the group in demanding an encore. This level
of energy spilled over into the evening's social activities and well into
the next day's business planning sessions. It seemed to me that every
group was comfortable linking Samba and our Health Imaging business.
Our leadership
team meets next week and I know that Wayne and others will be referencing
the One World Music experience as we return to the tough, demanding world
of business and position it as "look at what we can and did do."
Thank you and your team again, Gary, you were all true professionals from
concept, through design and finally to implementation, and we are an improving
organization and community for the experience.
Sincerely,
Peter Derry
